The UAE has become a global leader in the integration of digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence (AI) in both the public and private sectors because to creative projects and large expenditures in infrastructure and highly qualified personnel.
The “UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence,” which was introduced by the UAE government in 2017, aims to build a digital ecosystem, increase government efficiency, and establish the UAE as a leading investor in AI technology by 2031. Because of this ambition, the UAE is now a global leader in the deployment of blockchain and AI. With a coverage of 99.5 percent of its entire territory, the nation has led the world in fiber-to-the-home network coverage for nine years running.
According to Ookla data, it also rated first globally for mobile speeds and second globally for fixed broadband speeds in March 2025, demonstrating the robustness of its digital infrastructure.
Adoption of AI has enhanced government services; many have been reorganized with the use of intelligent technology, improving consumer satisfaction and service quality. According to the United Nations E-Government Survey 2024, the UAE’s efforts to include AI for sustainable development were reflected in its top ranking on the Telecommunication Infrastructure Index (TII).
The United Arab Emirates topped the Oxford Insights “Government AI Readiness Index” regionally, demonstrating superiority in data and digital infrastructure accessibility, government efficiency, and technology sector development.
With AI playing a key role in both public and commercial sector activities, this strategy further solidifies the UAE’s leadership in building the digital future.
According to LinkedIn, AI jobs in the UAE are expanding at a faster rate than other industries, with a 74 percent yearly increase, according to the InterRegional for Strategic Analysis.
The UAE has included AI as a “operating system” that is transforming the public and private sectors, according to Rob Van Dale, Partner and Digital Transformation Leader at Kearney for the Middle East and Africa. He also mentioned the billions of dollars that big businesses have invested in the private sector in response to the UAE’s AI ambitions.
The UAE has moved from adopting AI to implementing it widely through a government-driven strategy, according to Faisal Hamady, Managing Director and Partner of Boston Consulting Group.
As one of the first nations to embrace a complete AI strategy, the UAE has progressed beyond investing in AI infrastructure to reaping benefits, according to Ahmad Jamal, Regional Director of Artificial Intelligence Solutions at NVIDIA.
The UAE’s quick embrace of AI establishes a worldwide benchmark and positions the nation as a leader in the digital future, said Hitendra Patel, founder and CEO of the worldwide Innovation Management Institute.
