India’s push toward advanced connectivity infrastructure is gaining momentum as TP-Link India has started local manufacturing of its Wi-Fi 7 product portfolio. The company has become one of the first global networking brands to manufacture next-generation Wi-Fi solutions in the country following the Department of Telecommunications’ January 2026 decision to delicence the lower 6 GHz spectrum band.
TP-Link will begin production with the Omada EAP770 enterprise access point under the Make in India initiative. The company plans to gradually expand localisation across its wider Wi-Fi 7 portfolio to meet growing enterprise demand in India and later explore select international export markets.
At present, nearly 92% of TP-Link India’s sales come from locally manufactured products. The company aims to increase localisation levels to 96–97% over the next 3 years.
Sanjay Sehgal, MD and CEO of TP-Link India, said: “Manufacturing Wi-Fi 7 products in India reflects our long-term commitment to supporting the country’s digital infrastructure ambitions and the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. With the opening of the 6 GHz band, India is entering a transformative phase in enterprise connectivity.”
He added that the company is expanding manufacturing, strengthening R&D operations and investing in partner development to position India as a major supply hub for global markets.
The DoT’s decision unlocks 500 MHz spectrum in the 5925–6425 MHz band for licence-exempt usage. Wi-Fi 7 technology is expected to deliver faster speeds, lower latency, higher network capacity and improved reliability for cloud computing, AI applications, IoT ecosystems and video collaboration.
TP-Link has introduced multiple Wi-Fi 7 access points under its Omada portfolio for indoor, outdoor and in-wall deployments. The locally manufactured Omada EAP770 is a tri-band enterprise access point designed for campuses, hospitals, hospitality, retail and educational institutions. It also supports cloud-based and centralised network management through TP-Link’s Omada SDN platform.
The latest move also aligns with TP-Link’s long-term plan to establish its largest global manufacturing facility in India over the next 5 years, alongside its Mumbai headquarters and Bengaluru R&D centre.
