Torrent Power has appointed Vikas Poddar as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), adding a finance leader with more than 25 years of experience across the energy, telecommunications and consumer sectors.

In his new role, Poddar will lead the company’s finance function and support its strategic growth, financial performance and long-term business priorities.

His expertise covers strategic finance, financial planning and analysis, corporate planning, capital allocation, business transformation, performance management, governance, risk management and finance digitisation.

Poddar joins Torrent Power from Indus Towers Limited, where he served as Chief Financial Officer and led strategic finance and corporate planning.

At Indus Towers, he headed a finance organisation of around 180 professionals, with responsibilities across capital planning, financing, cash flow, risk and financial performance. During his tenure, the company raised INR 15 billion through public debt, strengthened capital allocation governance for major capital expenditure, advanced ESG-linked financial reporting and increased the use of automation and analytics in finance.

Before Indus Towers, Poddar held several senior roles within the Vodafone group. As Global Head of Finance (Finance Director) at Vodafone Intelligent Solutions (VOIS), he led finance for a global business services organisation supporting multiple operating companies and group functions from India, Egypt, Hungary and Romania.

Earlier, he served as Regional Finance Controller at Vodafone, supporting senior regional leadership across Africa, Turkey, Egypt, New Zealand, Australia and Qatar. He also worked as Senior Vice President – Head of FP&A and Decision Support, supporting the CEO, CFO and Executive Committee of Vodafone India.

Earlier in his Vodafone career, Poddar served as Finance Head/Assistant Vice President across multiple telecom circles in India, overseeing FP&A, financial operations, credit and collections, revenue assurance, risk management and supply chain management.

Before Vodafone, he was Finance Manager at ITC Limited, handling financial reporting, statutory compliance, budgeting, internal controls and finance transformation.

Poddar began his career with Thai Filament Co. Limited, where he spent more than 7 years in finance and controllership roles covering financial reporting, treasury, working capital and debt restructuring.

He holds an MBA in International Finance from the National University of Singapore, completed in 2003.
