Expanding its presence in the budget 5G segment, TECNO has announced the sale of its POP X 5G smartphone in India starting April 24, exclusively on Amazon.
The device is priced at Rs. 15,999 for the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, while the 6GB RAM + 128GB model is priced at Rs. 17,999. With this pricing, the smartphone competes directly with entry-level 5G devices from Realme, Redmi, and Samsung in the Indian market.
TECNO has focused on battery performance and durability with this device. The POP X 5G is equipped with a 6,500mAh battery, which the company claims can last through a full day of heavy usage. It also supports 45W fast charging for quicker recharging. The smartphone carries an IP64 rating, offering protection against dust and water splashes. TECNO added that the device has undergone drop testing, although specific test conditions were not disclosed.
On the connectivity side, the phone supports 4×4 MIMO technology, which uses multiple antennas to improve signal strength and data speeds. It also includes 5G carrier aggregation for faster downloads. Additionally, TECNO has introduced a feature called FreeLink Communication, which is claimed to help users stay connected even in areas with weak or no network coverage, though technical details were not shared.
The POP X 5G features a 120Hz display, delivering smoother scrolling and more responsive touch compared to standard 60Hz screens. This feature has become increasingly common in budget smartphones in recent years.
The device also includes several AI-powered tools such as noise cancellation for calls, a writing assistant, and an AI Eraser for photo editing. The company has not specified whether these features require internet access or work locally on the device.
The TECNO POP X 5G will be available for purchase on Amazon India starting April 24.
