Tech Mahindra Bets Big on New Consulting Arm and GCC Focus for Future Growth

In a strategic shift to drive future growth, Tech Mahindra is doubling down on two major areas — its newly launched consulting division and a stronger focus on Global Capability Centers (GCCs).

As traditional IT services reach saturation, the Indian tech giant is steering toward high-value services and transformation-led deals. By building a sharper edge in consulting and capturing the growing demand for GCCs, Tech Mahindra hopes to reposition itself in the market and unlock new revenue streams.

The company’s consulting business, which officially launched last year, is already showing early signs of traction. Focused on helping global clients with digital transformation, business strategy, and innovation, this new unit brings together domain experts and tech professionals to deliver more than just tech support — it’s about solving real business problems.

At the same time, Tech Mahindra is aggressively targeting the GCC segment, a space that is rapidly expanding as more multinational companies look to set up operations in India for IT, finance, HR, and innovation support. With India becoming a global hub for such centers, Tech Mahindra sees a strong opportunity to help companies build and scale these operations.

“Consulting is no longer just about giving advice — it’s about delivering outcomes,” said a senior executive from Tech Mahindra. “With our domain strengths, tech depth, and access to industry-specific talent, we’re uniquely positioned to make a difference.”

To support this push, the company is also hiring senior talent and domain specialists, especially in sectors like BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance), healthcare, and manufacturing. These verticals are seeing growing demand for transformation and operational efficiency — areas where consulting-led services make a big impact.

In the GCC space, Tech Mahindra plans to offer end-to-end services — from strategy and design to staffing, operations, and scaling. The company is also focusing on automation and AI to make these centers smarter and more cost-efficient.

This transformation in focus comes at a time when Indian IT companies are being challenged to evolve beyond traditional service models. With pressure on margins and global clients demanding innovation and speed, Tech Mahindra’s pivot could help it stand out in a competitive market.

The move also aligns with the company’s long-term strategy to increase its presence in high-growth, high-value segments, while reducing its reliance on low-margin services.
