Tata Electronics advances semiconductor strategy to achieve $30 billion growth target

As India accelerates its advanced manufacturing agenda, Tata Electronics is targeting a $30 billion scale, driven by a strong focus on semiconductor fabrication and electronics production.

The company’s strategy is closely linked to its entry into chip manufacturing, a sector gaining global importance. CEO and MD Randhir Thakur highlighted that this move supports the broader goal of building resilient and localized supply chains, especially after disruptions during the Covid period.

Tata Electronics is making significant investments to develop semiconductor capabilities, including India’s first fabrication unit and advanced packaging facilities. These efforts are part of a long-term plan to strengthen domestic manufacturing and reduce reliance on global chip suppliers.

The company has seen rapid growth in recent years, backed by strong investments and strategic partnerships. Its semiconductor initiatives are expected to play a central role in scaling operations and positioning India within the global electronics ecosystem.

This expansion comes at a time when demand for semiconductors is rising sharply across sectors such as AI, automotive, and consumer electronics. The company’s fab strategy aims to address both domestic demand and global market needs.

The $30 billion vision reflects Tata Electronics’ broader goal of moving up the value chain, from electronics manufacturing to advanced semiconductor production, while contributing to India’s long-term technology self-reliance.
