Tata Communications plans to invest close to $450 million to strengthen high-speed network connectivity between India’s artificial intelligence (AI) data centre corridors. The investment will support the development of around 10,000 kilometres of new long-haul fibre-optic cables across the country.
The project aims to connect cloud service providers, global capability centres (GCCs) and organisations such as banks with major data centre clusters, supporting the growing demand for AI-related infrastructure and high-speed data transmission.
The expansion will be rolled out in 3 phases. The first will focus on the Mumbai-Pune-Hyderabad-Chennai corridor, followed by developments along the east coast and across western India’s data centre ecosystems.
The planned network expansion will cover key locations, including Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Jamnagar and GIFT City.
Tata Communications provides enterprise data connectivity and cybersecurity services. The planned investment forms part of its efforts to strengthen India’s digital infrastructure as businesses and cloud providers expand their AI capabilities.
