Soundcore has introduced the Nebula X1S, a high-brightness 4K laser projector designed to make large-screen viewing possible even in bright daytime conditions.
The Anker sub-brand says the projector delivers up to 6,000 ANSI lumens, a major increase over the existing Nebula X1’s claimed 3,500 lumens. The boost comes from a 4th RGB laser stack, while the projector covers 106% of the Rec.2020 colour gamut in vivid mode.
The Nebula X1S can project 4K content onto screens up to 200 inches from a distance of 13–22 feet. It offers a native contrast ratio of 5,000:1 in SDR and up to 56,000:1 with Dolby Vision. Its dynamic iris has a variable aperture from f/2.0 to f/4.5 for HDR and Dolby Vision content.
The projector uses a 14-element lens system with a motorised micro-gimbal stabilisation system. This allows the lenses to align correctly even when the projector is tilted by up to 25°.
For audio, the X1S features a 40W system with 2 15W full-range drivers, 2 5W tweeters and 2 passive radiators. Buyers can also add 2 satellite speakers, each with 4 20W drivers, taking total audio output to 160W. The speakers connect over Wi-Fi, offer up to 8 hours of battery life and support USB-C charging. With the external speakers connected, the projector’s built-in speakers work as subwoofers to create a 4.1.2-channel system. Dolby Audio is supported, but Dolby Atmos is not.
The Nebula X1S runs Google TV and is certified for Netflix. It also supports Soundcore’s SpaceFlow feature, which can create a 3D-like environment using walls or other flat, rigid surfaces. This requires an additional 3D mapping module.
The projector is priced at $3,299, with an $800 launch discount bringing it to $2,499. A bundle with 2 satellite speakers costs $3,998 and is currently discounted to $2,799, while a package with a 100-inch screen and speakers costs $4,167, discounted to $2,899. The discounts are available until Sept. 20.
