Sony revises PlayStation Plus plan rates for users in India

Gaming subscriptions in India are getting more expensive as Sony has officially increased the prices of PlayStation Plus plans across all tiers. The revised pricing affects Essential, Extra, and Deluxe memberships, with entry-level monthly plans now starting at ₹649 instead of ₹499.

Under the updated pricing structure, the PS Plus Essential plan now costs ₹649 for 1 month, ₹1,559 for 3 months, and ₹5,139 for a 12-month subscription. The PS Plus Extra plan has increased to ₹979 for 1 month, ₹2,599 for 3 months, and ₹8,709 annually. Meanwhile, the PS Plus Deluxe tier is now priced at ₹1,109 for 1 month, ₹2,989 for 3 months, and ₹9,879 for a yearly subscription.

Sony recently stated that the price revision in selected regions was due to ongoing market conditions. However, the company has not clearly confirmed whether the revised pricing will immediately impact existing subscribers in India or apply only during renewals or plan changes.

According to Sony’s earlier statement, users in some regions would remain protected from revised pricing until their current subscriptions expired or changed. However, India and Turkey were reportedly excluded from that protection, creating uncertainty among existing users.

At present, PlayStation’s official platform does not display any detailed clarification regarding the impact on current subscribers.

The price increase also comes shortly after Microsoft reduced the pricing of its Xbox Game Pass plans in India. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate received a ₹300 price cut, while the PC Game Pass subscription became cheaper by ₹60, making Microsoft’s gaming subscription offerings comparatively more affordable for Indian gamers.
