Sonova has introduced its latest hearing aid platform, using real-time AI to improve speech clarity and reduce listening effort. The launch is aimed at strengthening the Swiss company’s position in a market driven by rapid technology upgrades and shorter replacement cycles.
The company was the first to introduce a hearing aid with real-time AI in 2024, designed to separate speech from background noise.
The new Phonak EON platform offers a smaller and lighter device, along with advanced AI technology. According to Anders Rosengren, Sonova’s head of research and development, the platform makes speech twice as understandable while requiring less listening effort.
EON is also expected to play an important role in helping Sonova achieve its medium-term growth targets, which faced investor scepticism in March.
“We expect EON adoption to build quickly among both replacement and new customers,” said Oliver Lux, president of Sonova’s EMEA and Latin America regions.
Sonova has not disclosed pricing details. However, Lux said EON was developed to support the company’s premium market positioning at launch.
The US launch on Monday will be followed by Australia and key European markets, including Germany, France, Italy and Britain, in mid-September. A broader global rollout will follow.
Sonova continues to see positive market conditions across its key regions, particularly Asia-Pacific and Latin America. Under CEO Eric Bernard, who took office last September, the company has increasingly identified Asia-Pacific as a key growth region.
The company aims to increase volumes and strengthen its presence in faster-growing markets supported by ageing populations.
