Sol de Janeiro Welcomes Elaine Paik as its Chief Financial Officer and Laurie Lovett as its Chief People and Impact Officer

Wishing Ms. Elaine Paik and Ms. Laurie Lovett, greater responsibilities and exciting challenges in this impressive new chapter!

In a heartfelt move towards growth with soul, beloved U.S. beauty brand Sol de Janeiro has announced two major additions to its executive team. The skincare label, famed for its Brazilian-inspired ethos and vibrant self-care rituals, has appointed Elaine Paik as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Laurie Lovett as its Chief People and Impact Officer.

These strategic hires mark a new chapter for the L’Occitane-owned brand, which is evolving with purpose after surpassing the $1 billion milestone. With a mission to scale not just in size but in essence, the brand is doubling down on its commitment to people, culture, and operational excellence.

Laurie Lovett brings an impressive legacy of leadership, having previously served as Global Chief People Officer at both Nielsen and Verisk. Her two-decade journey at Accenture shaped her profound understanding of inclusive leadership and transformative HR. At Sol de Janeiro, she will be steering human resources, ESG initiatives, and the brand’s deeper social impact, nurturing a workplace that radiates authenticity and care.

Elaine Paik, a seasoned financial leader, takes the helm of finance, IT, and legal affairs. She joins from Impossible Foods, where she was CFO, and boasts a long-standing career at Colgate-Palmolive. Her role will be crucial in ensuring robust governance and strong financial performance as the brand steps into its next era.

Both Lovett and Paik will report directly to CEO Heela Yang, whose words echo the heart of the brand:

“Sol de Janeiro was built on the belief that connection is powerful, and people are everything,” said Yang. “Laurie and Elaine are exceptional leaders with the vision, empathy, and rigor to help us grow with soul. Their deep expertise will shape how we scale; not just bigger, but better.”

With these key appointments, an inspiring 71% of Sol de Janeiro’s executive leadership team is now made up of women, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive excellence.

Founded in 2015, Sol de Janeiro quickly captured global attention with its joyful, body-positive message and was acquired in 2021 for $450 million. Today, it continues to bloom under the guiding principle of beauty that embraces every body.

As Sol de Janeiro marches ahead, it does so not just with strategy, but with spirit, proving that brands can grow big without losing what makes them beautiful.
