Samsung is reportedly developing a more advanced version of its Privacy Display technology for its next flagship smartphone. The upgraded feature is expected to arrive with the rumoured Galaxy S27 Ultra, which could launch early next year, although the company has not confirmed the details.
According to tipster Sawyer Galox (@Sawyergalox) in a post on X, Samsung has begun working on the 2nd generation of Privacy Display. The new version is expected to offer higher resolution when the privacy feature is enabled, along with improved viewing angles, screen quality and clarity.
However, these hardware upgrades could also lead to a higher price. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is tipped to start at $1,400 (approximately Rs. 1,33,000) to $1,500 (around Rs. 1,43,000).
Earlier estimates suggested a starting price of $1,399 (approximately Rs. 1,35,000) in the US and $1,499 (around Rs. 1,45,000) in South Korea. In select global markets, the expected price was reportedly between $1,499 (approximately Rs. 1,45,000) and $1,549 (around Rs. 1,50,000). These prices remain unconfirmed.
Samsung introduced Privacy Display with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, launched earlier this year. The feature is designed to reduce “shoulder surfing” by limiting how much of the screen can be seen from side angles.
Users can enable it for selected apps, messages, passwords and banner notifications. The technology uses wide-viewing and narrow-viewing pixels. When activated, the wide-viewing pixels switch off, reducing the screen’s viewing angles and making its contents harder to see from the side.
However, some users reportedly complained after the Galaxy S26 Ultra launch that enabling Privacy Display reduced pixel density and screen resolution. The next-generation version is expected to address some of these limitations, though Samsung has yet to confirm any improvements or pricing details.
