Rocklink India enters battery recycling space with new Sikandrabad facility

Marking a step forward in sustainable energy practices, Rocklink India has inaugurated its first lithium-ion battery recycling facility in Sikandrabad, Uttar Pradesh.

The new plant has an input capacity of 10,000 tons and can recover around 5,000-6,000 tons of blackmass. This is expected to reduce battery waste while supporting the local supply chain for critical materials.

The company is also planning to introduce dry processing technology for handling new battery scrap. In addition, Rocklink aims to expand its operations into southern India as part of its growth strategy.

Alongside this, Rocklink India is partnering with BatX Energies to set up a rare-earth processing plant within 1 year. The company expects recycling to meet around 5% of the total demand, with strong growth potential in the Indian market.

Commenting on the development, Director Leonard Ansorge said India’s recycling sector is growing rapidly and becoming more organised.
