In a major boost to Andhra Pradesh’s digital infrastructure, Reliance has received approval to set up a new data centre in Visakhapatnam with an investment of ₹1.08 lakh crore. The proposal was cleared by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, during a meeting in Amaravati on Wednesday.

Reliance had earlier announced its investment plans for the state at the CII Partnership Summit held last year. The latest approval marks a significant step in advancing those commitments.

Along with the Reliance project, the SIPB also approved other key proposals. These include the Adani Energy Hydro Energy Pumped Storage Project worth ₹12,000 crore and a motorcycle manufacturing plant in Tirupati by Royal Enfield with an investment of ₹2,500 crore.

The Reliance data centre will be the 2nd major data centre project in the state. Last month, construction began on a ₹15 lakh crore Google Cloud AI Hub in Anakapalli, located near Visakhapatnam.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chief Minister said that all MoUs signed by the state government must be converted into actual investments. He also stressed the need to ensure timely execution and grounding of approved projects, according to an official release.

The approvals highlight Andhra Pradesh’s growing focus on attracting large-scale investments in digital infrastructure, energy, and manufacturing sectors.
