Xiaomi’s Redmi has expanded its budget 5G smartphone range in India with the launch of the Redmi 17C 5G. The new model joins the recently introduced Redmi 17 5G and comes with a 6,000mAh battery, a 50-megapixel rear camera and a display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The Redmi 17C 5G starts at Rs. 20,999 for the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage model. The 6GB + 128GB variant costs Rs. 22,999. The phone will go on sale from October 7 through Amazon and the Xiaomi online store.

It is available in Coffee Brew, Dark Night and Purple Dawn colour options. The India model matches the design and specifications of its global counterpart.

The phone features a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD display with a 720 x 1,600-pixel resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rate, 810 nits HBM brightness and 240Hz touch sampling rate. It supports 16.7 million colours and 83% NTSC coverage. TÜV Rheinland certifications include Low Blue Light, Circadian Friendly and Flicker Free. The device also carries an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance.

The Redmi 17C 5G runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 and is powered by the octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset with speeds of up to 2.4GHz. It uses a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, up to 6GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. Virtual RAM can be expanded by up to 6GB, while storage can be expanded up to 1TB using a microSD card.

For photography, the phone has a 50-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture and 1080p video recording at 30fps. An 8-megapixel f/2.0 front camera handles selfies and video calls. Camera features include HDR, Soft-light ring, Portrait, Time-lapse and Night modes.

The 6,000mAh battery supports 33W wired fast charging. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, USB Type-C, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou. It also includes an ambient light sensor, accelerometer and e-compass, measures 171.56 x 79.47 x 7.99mm and weighs about 211g.
