OpenAI makes GPT-6 Luna-powered Decisions API widely available to developers

OpenAI has expanded access to its AI development tools by making its GPT-6 Luna-powered Decisions API generally available in select global markets. The tool is designed to help developers build AI agents and applications that can process information, answer recurring questions and make routine decisions faster.

Previously available in public beta, the Decisions API can work with text, images and structured JSON inputs. OpenAI says it can deliver near real-time decisions up to 10x faster than GPT-6 Luna through the Responses API.

Decisions API pricing and features

The API costs $0.10 (roughly Rs. 10) per million input tokens, while cached input costs $0.01 (about Rs. 1) per million tokens. It is available through the Decisions Playground and supports eligible customers using Zero Data Retention.

Developers can use the tool for tasks such as categorising information, routing requests and selecting the next action. They provide questions, possible answers and relevant context, allowing the API to select the most suitable response.

OpenAI has also increased the limit to 400 questions per request, up from 200 during the public beta. Other additions include native GPT-Live integration, prompt caching for reused context and inference residency options in the US and EU.

The GPT-Live integration is intended to help applications, voice agents and AI-powered customer support systems decide when to ask follow-up questions, redirect requests or escalate issues.

The company says the API can accept native JSON inputs and images within question instructions, giving developers more flexibility when building AI-powered applications.
