Tyler Durham joins Novartis to lead organization development and enterprise transformation in the US

In his new role, Tyler will work closely with business leaders and the People & Organization (P&O) function to strengthen organizational effectiveness, design innovative operating models, accelerate enterprise transformation, and build high-performing, future-ready teams that support the company’s strategic priorities.

Tyler brings more than 25 years of experience in organization development, leadership, talent strategy, transformation, and change management. Throughout his career, he has helped global organizations drive growth through people, culture, and organizational excellence across the life sciences, consulting, healthcare, and professional services sectors.

Before joining Novartis, Tyler served as Head of Talent, Leadership & Development, and People Analytics at Flagship Pioneering. In this role, he led leadership development, talent management, learning strategy, employee experience, and people analytics, helping individuals and teams maximize their potential while fostering innovation across the company’s portfolio.

Earlier, he spent more than 4 years with AstraZeneca after its acquisition of Alexion Pharmaceuticals. During his tenure, he held several senior leadership positions, including Global Head of Talent & Organization Development, Vice President – Leadership, Talent and Learning, Vice President – Head of Leadership & Organization Strategy, and Vice President – Head of Leadership Capability. He played a key role in establishing global talent and organization development practices, designing high-performing organizational models, driving enterprise transformation, and strengthening leadership capability.

Before entering the life sciences industry, Tyler was a Partner at Prophet, where he helped build and expand the firm’s global organization and culture consulting practice into one of its fastest-growing business units. He also served as a Senior Expert at McKinsey & Company, advising global organizations on transformation, organization design, mergers, talent strategy, and leadership effectiveness.

Earlier in his career, Tyler spent more than 10 years as Partner and Global President at Ketchum Change. He expanded the consulting business across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific while helping organizations manage large-scale organizational change and cultural transformation. He also worked as a Senior Consultant in Deloitte’s Human Capital Practice, leading change management and organizational effectiveness projects for global clients.

Tyler began his professional career as a Captain in the U.S. Army, serving in Military Intelligence and Armor units with assignments in Germany, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Hungary. His military background helped shape his leadership approach focused on resilience, transformation, and high-performance teams.

He holds an MBA in General Management and Human & Organization Performance from the Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management. He has also completed the Senior Management Program (SMP) at Harvard Business School Executive Education, further strengthening his expertise in executive leadership and organizational transformation.
