Nothing OS 5.0 to be unveiled on August 25

Nothing announced that Nothing OS 5.0 will be unveiled on August 25 at 11:00 am BST (3:30 pm IST). A teaser video hints at design changes, including new icons and widgets, but the company has not revealed detailed features yet.

The company is also expected to announce a beta programme for Nothing OS 5.0 on the same day. The first beta could roll out later this year, while the timeline for the stable release has not been confirmed.

The recently launched Nothing 4a series could receive the update soon, along with the flagship Phone 3.

Android 17 brings new features

Google began rolling out the stable Android 17 update in June to Pixel 6 and newer smartphones, as well as the Pixel Tablet. Other smartphone makers, including Motorola, Vivo and Oppo, have also announced Android 17-based beta programmes.

Vivo is testing OriginOS 7, while Oppo has introduced its Android 17-based ColorOS 17 beta programme. Motorola has also announced its Android 17 beta programme.

Android 17 introduces Bubbles, a multitasking feature that lets users turn an app screen into a floating window by long-pressing its app icon.

The update also includes Screen Reactions, which allows users to record their front camera feed and smartphone screen at the same time. The camera feed appears over the screen recording.
