NASA will provide an update on its Artemis programme and plans to return American astronauts to the Moon by 2028 during a briefing scheduled for 2 p.m. EDT on Friday, 23 October, at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The briefing will feature NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman, NASA Associate Administrator Amit Kshatriya and Jeremy Parsons, NASA’s Artemis programme manager.

The update will cover the progress of upcoming lunar missions, including Artemis III, which is planned to send 4 astronauts into low Earth orbit next year. The mission will test critical systems required for future lunar landings. NASA will also discuss the progress of its plans to return American astronauts to the lunar surface by 2028.

The briefing will be available to watch online through NASA’s official livestream at https://www.nasa.gov/live.

US media representatives interested in attending the event in person must submit their applications online through the agency’s media accreditation portal by 12 p.m. EDT on Friday, 16 October.

Journalists who wish to ask questions remotely must request the dial-in number from the Kennedy newsroom at least 1 hour before the briefing begins. Requests can be sent to [email protected]. NASA’s media accreditation policy is also available on its official website.

The Artemis programme forms part of NASA’s broader efforts to advance space exploration and scientific research. Through increasingly complex missions near the lunar South Pole, the agency aims to explore more of the Moon than ever before.

Beyond scientific discovery and potential economic benefits, NASA plans to establish a lasting human presence on the lunar surface. The programme will also build on the agency’s capabilities and experience as it prepares for the first crewed mission to Mars.

More information about the Artemis programme is available at https://www.nasa.gov/artemis.
