Indian chip push gains momentum as Mindgrove and Pinetics team up

In a move aimed at strengthening India’s electronics ecosystem, Mindgrove Technologies from IIT Madras Research Park has partnered with Pune-based Pinetics to deploy locally designed semiconductor chips in real-world applications.

The 2-year collaboration focuses on reducing dependence on imported technology while boosting domestic innovation in the electronics sector. The partnership is expected to support the growth of India’s local manufacturing capabilities.

As part of the initiative, Mindgrove’s Secure IoT chip, which is ready for production, will be used in devices such as meters, point-of-sale machines, and smart locks. The company is also developing a Vision chip designed for high-performance applications, including CCTV cameras and dashcams.

Pinetics will play a key role in accelerating the integration of these chips into finished products. This is expected to speed up the availability of Made-in-India technology across everyday consumer and enterprise devices.

The collaboration highlights a growing push toward building a self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem in India, with a focus on practical deployment and real-world use cases.
