Expanding its generative AI offerings, Meta Platforms has announced the rollout of Muse Image, its first image-generation model developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs. The new AI model is being integrated into the Meta AI chatbot and will power several creative features across the company’s platforms.
Muse Image is designed to understand complex prompts, use photos as input, and allow users to edit AI-generated images using sketches or annotations. The company said these capabilities are aimed at making image creation more interactive and personalised.
The AI model will introduce more than 30 new AI effects for Instagram Stories and enable image generation within direct chats using Meta AI on WhatsApp. The feature will initially be available in selected countries before expanding to more markets.
It also plans to bring Muse Image to Facebook and Messenger in the coming months. While basic access through Meta AI will remain free, advanced image creation features will be offered through the company’s subscription plans.
Earlier in April, Meta introduced Muse Spark, its first text-and-reasoning AI model developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs. The company established the division last year to strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving AI industry.
Meta said advanced AI models are becoming increasingly important as they support tasks such as software development, content creation, and customer service automation.
Alongside the image-generation model, the company also announced an early preview of Muse Video, its upcoming AI-powered video generation model, further expanding its portfolio of generative AI tools.
With the launch of Muse Image and the preview of Muse Video, Meta continues to integrate AI-powered creative capabilities across its ecosystem while expanding access to generative AI features for users worldwide.
