Maruti Suzuki expands AI-driven innovation efforts through startup accelerator program

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. has selected 6 startups under the 10th Cohort of its flagship Accelerator Program to develop AI-based and technology-driven solutions for the company’s operations.

The selected startups include Goat Robotics, SheerDrive, Schijnenn Digital, GenbaNEXT, Swayatt Drishtigochar and Swiftex. According to the company, these startups will receive paid Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to co-create solutions aimed at improving operational efficiency, safety and customer experience.

The company said the solutions are focused on enhancing plant safety, reducing product development time, strengthening material-level traceability and improving customer engagement processes for dealer sales teams.

“As our operations continue to grow, the solutions that we are co-creating with these start-ups will enable us to further improve safety in our plants, help reduce product design and development lead time, strengthen material traceability to support our circularity efforts and help our dealer sales executives engage with customers more efficiently,” said Hisashi Takeuchi, MD and CEO, MSIL.

The company added that the accelerator initiatives provide startups with mentorship, access to MSIL facilities and opportunities to work directly with company teams on real business challenges.

“This helps start-ups refine and scale their ideas while also helping us modernise our operations and become future-ready,” Takeuchi added.

Maruti Suzuki said it has developed multiple open innovation programs to support startups working on practical business solutions.

Over the last 7 years, the company has screened more than 6,800 startups, engaged with over 250 startups and onboarded 34 startups as business partners delivering operational value.

The latest cohort reflects the growing role of AI and advanced technologies in transforming manufacturing, product development and customer operations in the automobile industry.
