Maharashtra government cancels all proposed foreign tours of tourism department and affiliated delegations to conserve fuel

The Maharashtra government has cancelled all proposed foreign tours of the state tourism department and its affiliated delegations with immediate effect as part of efforts to conserve fuel and safeguard foreign exchange reserves.

State Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai said the decision was taken in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide appeal and in line with directions issued by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

An official order has been issued to the tourism department’s additional chief secretary regarding the cancellation of foreign visits.

The tourism department has also appealed to citizens to prefer domestic tourism over international travel to support the local economy, conserve foreign exchange and reduce energy consumption.
