Kerala Police joins hands with Cyble to boost cybercrime investigations

As cybercriminals increasingly use underground online networks to carry out fraud and trade stolen data, Kerala Police is strengthening its investigative capabilities through a new partnership with cybersecurity company Cyble.

The 3-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) will provide the Kerala Police cyber operations wing and Cyberdome with threat intelligence to identify and investigate emerging cyber threats. The intelligence will cover stolen credentials, ransomware operations, data leaks, phishing networks, online fraud and compromised digital infrastructure.

Investigators will also receive information on fraudulent online systems and cases involving the impersonation of government and police agencies. The agreement includes training for police officers in open-source intelligence (OSINT) and dark web investigations. It also provides no-cost evaluation access to selected cybersecurity platforms.

The partnership will support joint research into emerging threats, including AI-enabled fraud, deepfakes, mule account networks and investment scams. Public awareness programmes will also be part of the initiative.

“Cybercrime investigations increasingly require access to timely intelligence on threats that may originate beyond conventional online channels. This collaboration will support Cyberdome and our officers with relevant intelligence, strengthen investigative capabilities, and contribute to efforts to protect citizens from evolving cyber threats,” said Ankit Asokan of Kerala Police.

Cybercriminals often use underground forums and illegal online marketplaces to trade stolen credentials, distribute leaked data, coordinate ransomware attacks and facilitate financial fraud. Investigating these activities requires intelligence on digital footprints and criminal networks that operate across geographical boundaries.

The collaboration aims to give Kerala Police better access to relevant threat intelligence and strengthen its ability to investigate increasingly complex cybercrime cases.
