Intel appoints Alex Katouzian to drive PC innovation and expand physical AI strategy

Katouzian will oversee Intel’s core PC business, which has long been a major contributor to the company’s revenue and profitability. His responsibilities will also include leading the physical AI segment, covering systems used in robotics, autonomous machines, and AI-driven devices.

He joins Intel after more than 20 years at Qualcomm, where he played a key role in the company’s mobile chip business, developing processors for smartphones and other connected devices. Qualcomm is currently working to challenge Intel and Advanced Micro Devices in the PC market using chips based on Arm Holdings technology.

“Alex brings deep technical expertise, strong operational discipline, and decades of experience building and scaling global compute platforms,” said Lip-Bu Tan. “He is the right leader to help us reimagine client computing beyond the traditional PC and align this future with the next wave of growth in physical AI.”

In a related move, Intel also confirmed Pushkar Ranade as Chief Technology Officer on a permanent basis. Ranade will continue to serve as chief of staff to the CEO.

The appointments come as Intel sharpens its focus on next-generation computing and AI-driven systems.
