India’s banking, telecom and cyber sectors receive access to advanced Mythos AI model

India’s cybersecurity, telecom, banking and financial sectors have been granted access to Anthropic’s advanced AI model, Mythos, marking a significant step in strengthening cyber resilience across critical industries. However, the country’s IT services sector has not been included in the current access programme.

The move comes as Anthropic expands Project Glasswing, its cybersecurity-focused initiative, to more than 15 countries, including India. Under the programme, selected organisations are being given controlled access to the highly restricted AI model, which is designed to identify software vulnerabilities and strengthen cyber defence capabilities.

Mythos has attracted global attention due to its ability to detect previously undiscovered software weaknesses and accelerate vulnerability analysis. The model is not publicly available and is being shared only with vetted organisations because of concerns over potential misuse.

The inclusion of Indian organisations from cybersecurity, telecommunications, banking and finance reflects growing efforts to secure critical infrastructure against evolving digital threats. These sectors are expected to use the model to improve threat detection, identify vulnerabilities and strengthen overall cybersecurity preparedness.

At the same time, the exclusion of India’s IT services industry has raised questions about access to advanced cybersecurity technologies. While critical sectors are receiving early access, IT services companies remain outside the current programme despite their significant role in managing technology systems for global enterprises.

The development comes amid increasing global concern over AI-driven cyber risks. Regulators, financial institutions and technology leaders worldwide have been closely monitoring Mythos due to its advanced capabilities and potential impact on cybersecurity.

With cyber threats becoming more sophisticated, access to advanced AI-powered security tools is increasingly viewed as a strategic advantage. The latest expansion of Project Glasswing highlights the growing importance of collaboration between AI developers and critical infrastructure sectors in strengthening cyber defence capabilities.
