India, which is already in the top six for obtaining patents for the next-generation technology, would be crucial in establishing the protocols of 6G, according to Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
He went on to say that India will provide 10% of the patents when the protocols were finalized, which is anticipated to occur at the World Radio Communications Conference in 2027.
The minister was speaking at the India Mobile Congress 2025 theme launch, which is scheduled for October.
“We have already filed two issues which have been accepted. One is ubiquitous connectivity and the other is in terms of equity of connectivity. We have achieved this landmark in addition to the patent filing,” Scindia said. “We have built one of the most robust telecom networks and systems across the world which is cutting edge, customer oriented and service oriented. While we talk about opportunities such as this, innovation has to be at the core.”
According to the minister, India has made significant progress since the days when infrastructure and equipment were few and data usage was irregular.Â
