Expanding cooperation in governance and technology, India and South Korea held discussions on digital governance, e-government, public administration, capacity building, and citizen-centric service delivery during a meeting between Republic of Korea Minister of Interior and Safety Yun Hojung and Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh.
The two leaders, along with their delegations, held bilateral talks for more than 1 hour. Singh said that ministries from both countries are actively working towards finalising a Memorandum of Understanding to promote cooperation in public administration and government innovation.
The discussions focused on digital transformation of government services, the use of emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence in administration, training of civil servants, citizen participation in governance, and best practices in grievance redressal systems.
Welcoming the Korean delegation, Singh highlighted India’s progress in digital governance, public service delivery, and grievance redressal under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said India and South Korea are vibrant democracies that share common values, heritage, and commitment to the rule of law.
Singh also referred to the historical connection between Princess Suriratna of Ayodhya and King Suro of the Gaya confederacy, saying the relationship continues to hold strong significance.
He spoke about the recent visit of President Lee Jae Myung, which resulted in cooperation across sectors including trade and investment, ports and maritime affairs, digital and fintech, science and technology, culture, and sports.
The minister highlighted initiatives such as the CPGRAMS portal, Digital Life Certificate for pensioners, and technology-enabled governance platforms aimed at improving transparency and service delivery.
The Korean delegation shared experiences related to smart governance, digital public services, and disaster and safety management. Both sides stressed the importance of stronger people-to-people ties and institutional partnerships to address future governance challenges.
Referring to International Yoga Day, Singh noted that yoga is becoming increasingly popular in South Korea and invited the delegation to participate in the celebrations.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to promoting efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric governance.
