CIBC chooses Hyderabad for new GCC, reinforcing city’s global technology appeal

Hyderabad continues to attract global investment as Canadian banking major CIBC has announced plans to establish a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in the city, further strengthening Telangana’s position as a leading destination for technology and financial services operations.

The new GCC is expected to begin operations in July and is among the key investment commitments announced during the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025 that are now moving into execution. Industry sources said the facility will support CIBC’s global technology and financial services functions and is expected to create more than 2,000 skilled jobs across banking technology, analytics, and related fields.

With this move, CIBC joins a growing list of global Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) companies operating GCCs in Hyderabad, including JP Morgan Chase, UBS, Wells Fargo, HSBC, American Express, and Barclays.

Industry experts believe CIBC’s expansion could encourage more international BFSI firms to select Hyderabad as their preferred destination for India operations. Recently, IPL, a Fortune 500 financial services company, also established a significant GCC presence in the city.

According to the Nasscom-Zinnov GCC Landscape Report 2026, Hyderabad has emerged as one of India’s fastest-growing GCC hubs, with nearly 450 centres currently operating across the city. The report also highlighted that 50% of leading financial services companies that launched GCCs in India during 2025 chose Hyderabad as their preferred location.

The city is also attracting investments beyond the BFSI sector. Global food and beverage company Nestlé has selected Hyderabad for its upcoming GCC, which is expected to become operational in the coming months. The centre is likely to support innovation, supply chain development, and employment generation while strengthening the city’s FMCG ecosystem.

In addition, US-based aerospace and advanced engineering company Sargad is establishing a Global Innovation Centre in Hyderabad. Company representatives had previously met Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy during the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos.

Officials said the proposed innovation centre will further strengthen Hyderabad’s position as a key aerospace and defence hub, supporting the city’s growing ecosystem in advanced manufacturing, engineering, and technology-driven industries.
