Hyderabad police recently uncovered a gang that allegedly used Instagram to target children from affluent backgrounds. By creating fake profiles that showcased a high-end, luxurious lifestyle, the group lured victims into their trap. The operation was built on calculated planning to identify and approach specific individuals through digital platforms.
The investigation revealed a disturbing pattern of extortion and blackmail. Once the gang established contact and a physical relationship, they secretly recorded the encounters. These recordings were subsequently used as leverage to demand money from the victims. Police are currently examining the financial transactions linked to these activities to determine the total amount extorted and the full number of victims involved.
Police believe the operation may have had inside help to identify potential targets. Domestic workers are currently under the scanner, as authorities suspect they provided crucial information about wealthy households to the gang. This internal assistance likely allowed the group to focus their efforts on children from well-off families with high precision.
Law enforcement has already arrested several gang members, but the probe is far from over. Police have indicated that more arrests and disclosures are expected as they map out the broader network supporting this racket. While specific details remain limited during the ongoing inquiry, officials remain committed to uncovering every individual who played a role in this criminal operation.
