Fresh leaks surrounding the upcoming Honor Magic 9 suggest the company is preparing major hardware upgrades for its next flagship smartphone lineup. The Magic 9 series is expected to include the Honor Magic 9, Magic 9 Pro, and Magic 9 RSR models.
According to details shared by tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the standard Honor Magic 9 is currently being tested with a compact 6.36-inch display. The leak indicates that the company could continue focusing on premium flagship performance while keeping the device compact in size.
The smartphone is tipped to run on Qualcomm’s 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. This differs from earlier rumours that suggested the Magic 9 series could debut with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor. For reference, the current Honor Magic 8 also uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
Camera upgrades are also expected on the upcoming device. The Honor Magic 9 may feature a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, possibly using the OV64D sensor. The previous Honor Magic 8 model also included a 64-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom support.
One of the biggest highlights of the leak is the battery capacity. The Honor Magic 9 is said to pack a massive 8,000mAh battery with wireless charging support. This would mark a significant jump compared to the 7,000mAh battery available on the Honor Magic 8, which supports 90W wired and 80W wireless fast charging.
Additional leaked features include a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and an IP68 + IP69-rated build for dust and water resistance.
The Honor Magic 9 series is expected to launch in October 2026 alongside the Magic 9 Pro and Magic 9 RSR variants. However, the company has not officially confirmed the specifications or launch timeline yet.
