Henkel Strengthens Electronics Presence in India with New Engineering and Manufacturing Facilities

Henkel is making significant strides in India’s electronics sector with the launch of a new Application Engineering Center in Chennai and a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Kurkumbh, Maharashtra. These initiatives are part of Henkel’s plan to boost its capabilities in India, supporting the country’s growing electronics industry while enhancing supply chain efficiency.

The 17,000-square-foot Chennai center is equipped with five specialized labs designed for adhesive solutions and thermal management materials. These advanced facilities will focus on developing components for consumer electronics like smartphones and wearables, helping accelerate product launches and shorten time-to-market. This new center complements Henkel’s extensive global innovation network, which spans countries like the United States, Germany, Japan, China, and South Korea.

In addition, Henkel will set up a dedicated adhesive manufacturing facility at its Kurkumbh site near Pune. This plant will utilize Industry 4.0 smart factory systems to improve operational efficiency and ensure high-quality production. With these expansions, Henkel is well-positioned to better serve the rapidly growing electronics market in India, supported by government initiatives such as the “Make in India” and Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes.

Henkel India, a subsidiary of Henkel AG & Co. KGaA based in Germany, has a long-standing presence in the Indian market. The company has established a strong foothold in multiple sectors, including adhesive technologies, beauty care, and laundry & home care. Henkel’s adhesive technologies serve diverse industries such as automotive, electronics, and packaging, with renowned brands like Loctite and Technomelt.

The company’s manufacturing operations are spread across key locations in India, and the new facilities in Chennai and Kurkumbh further strengthen its commitment to innovation, local production, and improving the supply chain in line with India’s development goals.

Henkel India’s expansion aligns with the country’s focus on fostering local manufacturing and innovation. The company continues to invest in its workforce and operations, playing a pivotal role in the growth of India’s electronics and other key industries.
