In a step to strengthen its technology ecosystem, the Haryana government has announced plans to set up 2 AI Centres of Excellence in Panchkula and Gurugram. The initiative aims to drive innovation and enhance job-oriented skills across the state.
The project is backed by a total investment of ₹40 crore under a 40:40:20 funding model. This includes ₹16 crore from the central government, 40% contribution from the state government, and ₹8 crore from industry partners such as NASSCOM and STPI.
The implementation will be carried out through ARJUN, a special purpose vehicle created under the Haryana AI Development Project. The centres are designed to focus on sector-specific applications of artificial intelligence.
The Gurugram centre will build on an existing technology hub and focus on sectors like healthcare, agriculture, education, environment, and public services. It is expected to support innovation and real-world AI applications in these areas.
The Panchkula centre, which is being developed from scratch, will focus on governance, financial inclusion, disaster management, and citizen services. It aims to improve efficiency and accessibility in public systems using AI.
In addition to infrastructure development, the government is also planning to roll out AI skill development programs. These initiatives are expected to prepare the workforce for emerging opportunities in the AI-driven economy.
The project highlights a growing push to integrate AI into governance and industry, while also building talent pipelines for future technologies.
