Gunjan Soni Steps in as Country Managing Director for YouTube India

YouTube has announced a significant leadership move by appointing Gunjan Soni as the new Country Managing Director for India. Bringing with her more than 20 years of versatile leadership experience across business, technology, marketing, and e-commerce, Soni is all set to lead YouTube’s next phase of expansion and innovation in one of its most dynamic markets.

Sharing his enthusiasm, Gautam Anand, VP, YouTube APAC, said, “YouTube’s journey in India continues to be vibrant and dynamic, representing a country filled with immense creative energy and potential. I am excited to welcome Gunjan, a seasoned leader to guide our next phase of growth. Gunjan’s deep understanding of the creator economy and India’s video commerce landscape, combined with her leadership, will enable us to accelerate creator growth, unlock new opportunities, engage users, and contribute meaningfully to India’s digital journey.”

Before this new chapter with YouTube, Soni served as Group CEO at ZALORA for six successful years in Singapore, where she played a pivotal role in launching new categories, pioneering innovative business models, and significantly enhancing customer engagement through personalization initiatives and loyalty programs.

Gunjan Soni’s career is also deeply rooted in the Indian media and digital space. She was the Executive Vice President at a leading entertainment network and served as Chief Marketing Officer at Myntra. Earlier in her journey, she shaped brand and business strategies as a Partner at McKinsey in its Consumer and Marketing division. Soni also brings boardroom experience, currently serving on the board of the Fortune 500 company CBRE Group.
