Travel planning on Google Search is becoming more conversational as Google expands AI Mode with new tools for flights and hotels. The update allows users to track airfare, compare loyalty points and miles, and find and book hotels without leaving Search.

AI Mode adds flight price tracking

Google has brought the price tracking feature from Google Flights into AI Mode. Users can enter their departure and arrival locations and travel dates while chatting with AI Mode. The tool can then show current options and prices from more than 300 partner airlines and travel sites.

Users can ask AI Mode to monitor fares for a selected destination and travel dates. Once confirmed, they will receive an email when prices change. The flight price tracking feature is now available across more than 180 countries and territories.

AI Mode can also help users plan a complete itinerary. After selecting a flight, users can purchase tickets through the airline’s website or their preferred booking platform.

Compare flight and hotel points

AI Mode can now show the points or miles required for eligible flights and hotels. Users need to describe their trip and mention the loyalty programme they want to use. The tool uses updated information from Google’s travel partners and provides links to partner websites where users can complete rewards redemptions.

The points and miles feature is available globally. Current partners include Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines, Choice Hotels International, Hilton and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. Google plans to add Accor, Flying Blue, Hyatt, LATAM Airlines and Lufthansa Group soon.

Hotel bookings come to AI Mode

Google has also added direct hotel booking support to AI Mode. Users can provide their destination, dates and hotel preferences to receive options with guest reviews and key comparison details.

After selecting a hotel, users can ask AI Mode to help with the booking. Choosing Continue on Google beside an integrated hotel chain or online travel agency takes users through the transaction, which can be completed using Google Pay.

Hotel booking through AI Mode is currently available in the US in English. Upcoming partners include Booking.com, Choice Hotels International, Expedia, Hilton, Hotels.com, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, Priceline, Trip.com and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
