Strengthening its long-term investment strategy in India, Generac has inaugurated the Generac Business & Technology Centre (GBTC) in Pune, marking the company’s first dedicated Global Capability Centre in the country. The new facility is expected to play a key role in supporting Generac’s global engineering, technology, and business operations.

Spread across 21,494 square feet, the centre has been designed to accommodate more than 150 professionals. It will serve as a strategic hub for innovation and is expected to develop into a Centre of Excellence for selected engineering disciplines, creating specialised expertise that can support Generac’s operations worldwide.

The company selected India after evaluating several global talent markets, with Pune emerging as the preferred location due to its strong engineering ecosystem and manufacturing expertise. Generac stated that the city’s talent pool aligns closely with its focus areas, including power generation, energy management, and advanced technology development.

Commenting on the launch, Shyam Sunder, Vice President – Global Business and Technology Center, Generac India, said, “The India GCC will play a vital role in enhancing Generac’s technology, engineering and business capabilities. Beyond supporting global operations, the centre will help develop future leaders and build specialized expertise that contributes to the company’s long-term innovation agenda.”

Designed by workplace architecture firm TOA, the facility combines modern workplace design with scalability and functionality. The workspace includes collaborative zones, quiet work areas, flexible meeting spaces, and technology-enabled infrastructure aimed at improving productivity and employee engagement.

The centre also incorporates sustainability-focused features such as sensor-based energy management systems, energy-efficient lighting, acoustic PET panels, and durable materials designed to improve long-term operational efficiency. Smart security systems and digital access controls further enhance the workplace environment.

According to Aditya Yamsanwar, Director at TOA, “Global capability centres are increasingly becoming engines of innovation and strategic growth. Our objective was to create a workplace that supports collaboration, adaptability and employee well-being while remaining flexible enough to accommodate future expansion.”

The launch of the Pune facility reflects Generac’s confidence in India’s talent ecosystem and highlights the country’s growing importance within its global operations. Through investments in advanced infrastructure and specialised capabilities, the company aims to strengthen innovation, improve business resilience, and support long-term global growth.
