EY sets aside $100 million to reward human skills in the AI era

As artificial intelligence reshapes workplace roles, EY is putting greater focus on the human abilities it believes will remain critical. The company has announced a $100 million, approximately Rs. 800 crore, rewards programme for employees who demonstrate judgement, adaptability, leadership and collaboration while using technology to deliver meaningful results.

EY US announced the programme on August 31. It will recognise employees who adopt new technology, create measurable outcomes, contribute to the company’s culture and deliver strong client service.

The move comes as businesses increasingly use AI for routine tasks, data analysis and productivity improvements. EY says AI adoption must be combined with business understanding, sound judgement and the ability to adapt to changing workplace needs.

How the programme will work

The $100 million programme will have 3 categories.

“Everyday leadership” will recognise employees who help colleagues learn, experiment, collaborate and take leadership in their daily work.

“Transformation that drives measurable results” will reward employees whose work delivers meaningful change through new ideas, technology, business growth or other improvements.

“Game-changing impact for the enterprise” will focus on individuals or teams whose work creates a significant and lasting impact on EY.

The programme is open beyond senior leadership. Employees across the organisation will be able to recognise colleagues for their contributions. Spot bonuses can reach $500, while individuals or teams behind larger achievements can receive awards of up to $25,000.

EY said the initiative is designed to build a “tech-led, human-powered” workforce. The company wants employees to develop AI skills while strengthening abilities such as judgement, leadership, adaptability and teamwork.

Dante D’Egidio, EY Americas CEO and US Managing Partner, said, “The pace and complexity of change in our industry require confident leadership.” He added, “This significant investment reinforces our commitment to building the workforce of the future by recognising the skills and behaviours needed to lead our profession and serve our clients with excellence.”
