Carrefour Mobile Data Breach Exposes Sensitive Customer Information in Belgium

Carrefour, the French multinational retail and wholesaling company, has alerted its Belgian Carrefour Mobile customers that their personal data has been exposed in a data breach.

The company has indicated on its online support page that personal information, including names, birth dates, email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, passport numbers, subscriber IDs, and technical identification data, may have been compromised.

Carrefour Mobile is collaborating with a cybersecurity and forensic investigation firm to assess the cause and scope of the breach. As a safety measure, Carrefour Mobile’s website is currently offline, preventing customers from accessing their accounts or managing their personal information.

Once the website is restored, customers will need to reset their passwords to regain access. Carrefour Mobile advises against reusing passwords and encourages users to create strong, unique passwords. Those who use their Carrefour Mobile password for other online accounts should change them immediately.

Affected customers are also urged to remain vigilant in the coming months for potential fraud attempts, including spear phishing, voice phishing (vishing), SMS phishing (smishing), or identity theft.

Carrefour, a French multinational retail and wholesaling company based in Massy, France, operates a network of hypermarkets, grocery stores, and convenience stores. With over 14,000 locations in 40 countries, the company reported a revenue of €87 billion in 2024 and employs more than 325,000 people globally.
