Krafton India is preparing to expand its popular BGMI franchise with a lighter version aimed at reaching a wider group of players. The company has confirmed that BGMI Lite will launch in India by the end of 2026, although an exact release date has not been announced.
BGMI Lite launch details
Krafton India said the new title is intended to give players another way to experience BGMI and expand access across the country. In its announcement, the company said, “BGMI Lite is coming soon to India, marking the next chapter in the evolution of the BGMI experience.”
The company has confirmed the 2026 launch window but has not yet revealed the game’s features, gameplay details or device requirements. Krafton India said, “Further details about the game, including its features and gameplay experience, will be announced closer to launch.”
Technical specifications also remain unknown. The company has not disclosed minimum RAM or processor requirements, download size, supported smartphones or whether BGMI Lite will have gameplay differences compared with the standard BGMI title.
The lighter version is expected to target budget devices, potentially making the battle royale experience accessible to users with entry-level or older smartphones. It could also provide an alternative for existing BGMI players whose devices may struggle with more demanding mobile games.
Krafton India said BGMI has crossed 260 million downloads in India.
The announcement comes after the rollout of the BGMI 5th Anniversary Edition 4.5 update. As part of the anniversary celebrations, Krafton India also released limited-time redeem codes offering free in-game rewards, including skins, outfits, UC (Unknown Cash) and other items.
