Apple's advanced Siri AI features may move toward a subscription model

As Apple continues to expand its artificial intelligence ecosystem, new reports suggest that some of the most advanced Siri AI features could eventually become part of a paid subscription offering.

The possibility comes after Apple introduced a significantly upgraded version of Siri during WWDC 2026 alongside iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27. Powered by Apple Intelligence, the next-generation Siri is designed to compete with leading AI assistants and deliver more advanced conversational and productivity capabilities.

According to insights shared by industry analyst Mark Gurman, Apple is currently focused on increasing user adoption of its AI services. However, he believes the company could introduce charges for premium Siri AI features as the technology matures over the next 12 months.

The report suggests that basic Siri functions and on-device personal context features are expected to remain free for users. However, more advanced capabilities, including conversational AI, generative AI functions, and broader world knowledge features, could eventually face usage limits and require a paid subscription for extended access.

Operating AI-powered services requires significant computing infrastructure and server resources, making them more expensive to maintain. As a result, subscription-based access is being viewed as a possible long-term business model for advanced AI services.

The report also indicates that Apple currently allows iCloud+ subscribers to access higher usage limits for certain AI functions. However, a separate subscription plan dedicated to advanced Siri AI features could be introduced in the future.

Apple recently unveiled new Siri and Visual Intelligence capabilities across its latest software platforms. The upgraded assistant can access information from Messages, Mail, Photos, and other applications to perform tasks and provide more personalised assistance. It is also designed to combine information from multiple services to handle complex requests more effectively.

A dedicated Siri application will allow users to start new conversations or continue previous interactions from a single interface. The new AI-powered features are expected to become publicly available later this fall.

While Apple has not announced any pricing plans, the report highlights how subscription-based AI services may become an important part of the company’s future AI strategy.
