Amazon India is expanding its electric delivery network through a new partnership with VE Commercial Vehicles, aiming to introduce 1,000 custom-built electric trucks for its Amazon Now delivery service.
The new Eicher Pro-X electric trucks are designed to improve delivery speed while supporting greener transportation across urban areas. The vehicles will transport goods from large warehouses located on city outskirts to neighborhood delivery hubs closer to customers.
According to the company, 50 electric trucks are already operational, with plans to scale the fleet to more than 1,000 vehicles by 2028. The rollout will begin across Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.
Each electric truck is capable of covering daily routes of up to 180km and can be charged in nearly 50 minutes, helping support faster and more efficient delivery operations.
Amazon stated that the initiative is part of its larger strategy to expand Amazon Now services to 100 cities across India. The company also highlighted its ongoing focus on reducing carbon emissions through electric mobility solutions.
The company added that it already operates more than 12,000 electric vehicles across India as part of its nationwide logistics and delivery network.
The partnership with VE Commercial Vehicles is expected to strengthen Amazon India’s sustainable transportation efforts while supporting the growing demand for faster deliveries in urban markets.
