In a strategic move to bolster China’s technological footprint globally, Alibaba Cloud has unveiled plans to deepen its investment in international infrastructure, aiming to support Chinese enterprises in their overseas expansion and technological advancements, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI).
At a recent high-profile conference in Hangzhou, Alibaba Cloud announced the development of a “unified global cloud network,” designed to provide a stable, efficient, and secure foundation for businesses venturing abroad. This initiative underscores the company’s commitment to facilitating the global operations of Chinese firms through robust cloud computing and AI services.
Currently, Alibaba Cloud operates 87 availability zones across 29 regions, offering a suite of 394 cloud and AI products along with 59 technical services. This extensive network positions Alibaba Cloud as a leading service provider in the Asia Pacific region, with research firm Gartner ranking it highly in computing, storage, networking, and security among global cloud providers.
The company’s global expansion is further evidenced by the recent launch of its first data center in Mexico, marking its entry into Latin America. This facility aims to provide cloud computing services to local businesses and developers, fostering innovation and supporting digital transformation in the region. Additionally, Alibaba Cloud has commenced operations at its second data center in Thailand, catering to the country’s growing demand for cloud services and generative AI applications.
To meet the surging demand for AI technologies, Alibaba Cloud has introduced the AI Alliance Accelerator Program, collaborating with 50 AI technology partners and 50 channel partners in 2025. This program offers enhanced technical support, expanded distribution channels, and dedicated AI consulting services, aiming to accelerate the digital transformation journey of diverse partners.
Furthermore, Alibaba Cloud has unveiled the Revitalized Service Partner Program, focusing on cultivating new service partners by providing targeted training and empowerment. This initiative equips partners with the necessary capabilities for consulting, implementation, and managed services, diversifying their revenue streams and delivering comprehensive services to customers.
CEO Eddie Wu emphasized that this strategy aligns with Alibaba’s commitment to AI and cloud services, aiming to develop artificial general intelligence (AGI) and support the broader tech ambitions of China in the global AI race. The company’s cloud business has seen a 13% growth, with its international commerce unit experiencing a 32% increase in revenue.
