Adobe Firefly AI Assistant brings conversational control to creative workflows

Creative work is entering a new phase as Adobe unveils the Firefly AI Assistant, a conversational tool designed to simplify how content is created across its ecosystem. The assistant will be available soon in public beta within Adobe Firefly.

The new AI Assistant allows users to describe what they want to create in simple language. It then manages and executes complex, multi-step workflows across Adobe Creative Cloud apps such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Express.

The assistant builds on Project Moonlight, first showcased at Adobe MAX, and introduces a more intuitive way of working. Instead of managing every step, creators can start with the final outcome and guide the process as it unfolds.

Firefly AI Assistant works through a unified conversational interface that maintains context across sessions and tools. Users can move between apps without losing progress, making workflows more seamless and efficient.

It is designed to keep creators in control. The assistant suggests actions and executes workflows, but users can step in anytime to refine outputs, adjust direction, and maintain creative ownership. Outputs remain fully editable in native Adobe file formats.

A key feature is “Creative Skills,” a library of pre-built workflows that allow users to execute complex tasks from a single prompt. For example, users can generate social media assets by automatically resizing, optimizing, and adapting content for different platforms, while also adding enhancements like animation.

The assistant also learns user preferences over time, adapting to individual styles and workflows. It makes context-aware decisions based on the type of content—whether images, video, or design—helping streamline edits and improve relevance.

Additionally, it integrates with review tools like Frame.io to manage feedback, apply changes, and speed up production timelines.

Adobe plans to expand Firefly AI Assistant’s capabilities to work with third-party AI models, including those from Anthropic, further enhancing flexibility for creators.

The launch highlights Adobe’s push into agentic AI, aiming to reduce complexity and bring creators closer to their ideas while maintaining precision and control.
