A Bristol-based company, Prolectric, has unveiled its most powerful Solar Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to date. The 120 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, named ProCharge BESS, is designed for large construction sites and high-demand applications. The three-phase, hybrid-ready system combines performance, flexibility, and sustainability, aiming to reduce reliance on diesel generators while meeting the energy needs of ambitious infrastructure projects.
ProCharge was first tested as a prototype on Kier’s A417 Missing Link Project, where it demonstrated significant real-world savings using an 8-panel setup. The upgraded production unit now features 12 panels, offering even higher efficiency and power. Its low-noise operation makes it suitable for night work and residential areas, while its hybrid compatibility allows it to operate alongside diesel or HVO generators when needed.
The system can power electric telehandlers, small EVs, all-terrain vehicles, mini diggers, and dumpers, making it ideal for construction teams adopting zero-emission equipment. It also includes remote monitoring and data insights via the Smart Remote Telematics system, giving site teams full control and real-time updates. The skid-mounted design is compatible with standard UK three-phase distribution boards and delivers output of up to 45 kVA.
Engineered for true off-grid autonomy, ProCharge integrates high-yield solar panels with 120 kWh of storage and intelligent energy management. Unlike conventional battery systems, it can self-charge from sunlight, reducing the need for refueling and enabling sites to operate with zero fuel, zero noise, and zero emissions.
Prolectric emphasises that ProCharge is more than a replacement for generators. It forms part of a smarter hybrid ecosystem, using solar-charged batteries as the primary power source and supplementing with diesel only when necessary. This approach ensures consistent, usable power off-grid while dramatically reducing diesel runtime, providing a cost-effective, scalable, and clean energy solution for demanding construction environments.
