Microsoft Copilot now connects with Gmail, Google Drive, and other cloud services

Microsoft has introduced a major update for its Copilot on Windows, allowing users to connect and search across personal and third-party cloud services such as Gmail, Google Drive, and OneDrive. The new feature is currently being rolled out to Windows Insiders, marking a key step in making Copilot a central hub for managing digital content more efficiently.

The update focuses on breaking down data barriers between different cloud platforms. Users can now choose to link their accounts from OneDrive, Outlook (including email, contacts, and calendar), Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Contacts. This integration allows Copilot to help users easily find information spread across multiple accounts and services.

Once connected, Copilot can respond to natural language queries by fetching relevant information from these linked platforms. For example, users can ask questions such as “What’s the email address for Sarah?” or “Find my school notes from last week,” and Copilot will locate the information from their Microsoft or Google accounts. The feature is optional and requires users to manually enable access through the Settings section of the Copilot Windows app, under Connectors.

Enhanced document creation and export
Alongside connectivity improvements, Microsoft has also added new tools for document handling. Copilot now supports creating and exporting content directly into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or PDF files. This means users can easily generate and save files without needing to switch between applications.

A simple command like “Export this text to a Word document” or “Create an Excel file from this table” instantly converts AI-generated content into an editable format. Additionally, for longer responses of 600 characters or more, Copilot now provides an export button that lets users quickly send text to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or PDF.

The update, available under version 1.25095.161.0 and above, is being gradually released through the Microsoft Store to all Insider Channels. Microsoft plans to collect user feedback during this phase to refine the new features before a wider rollout.
