Linde has announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Sanjiv Lamba, Chief Executive Officer, to the additional role of Chairman of the Board, effective January 31, 2026. Lamba will succeed Steve Angel, who will retire from Linde’s Board on the same date.
Angel concludes 25 years of distinguished service, having significantly shaped Linde’s growth. He served as Chairman since 2022, CEO from 2018 to 2022, and previously as Chairman and CEO of Praxair, Inc., Linde’s predecessor company, from 2007 to 2018. Reflecting on his tenure, Angel said, “It has been a privilege to serve Linde over the past 25 years. I’ve especially enjoyed working alongside our talented employees and fellow Directors.”
Alongside these board-level changes, Linde also announced the appointment of Sean Durbin as Chief Operating Officer, effective October 1, 2025, reinforcing the company’s focus on growth initiatives and operational excellence.
Sanjiv Lamba has been Linde’s CEO since March 2022, overseeing global operations and strategic priorities. Previously, he was Chief Operating Officer at Linde plc and has held multiple leadership roles, including EVP & CEO, Asia Pacific, managing operations across 20 countries, and Member of the Executive Board & COO for Asia Pacific for eight years, leading over 11,000 employees.
Lamba has also served as Chairman of the Board at Linde India Limited for more than seven years, driving the company’s growth in India. His leadership across South & East Asia at Linde Gas Asia and as Business Unit Head for PGS South & South East Asia reflects his expertise in scaling operations and profitability. Early in his career, he successfully led a business turnaround as Managing Director of Linde India Limited and held key finance and corporate strategy roles at BOC India Limited and The BOC Group plc in the UK.
