WhatsApp Working on Incognito Mode for Meta AI Chats

WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new Incognito Mode for Meta AI chats, according to a feature tracker. The privacy-focused feature, spotted in a recent beta version, aims to give users confidential conversations similar to Private Browsing on Safari or Incognito Mode on Google Chrome. The feature is still under development and is not yet available to beta testers.

According to WABetaInfo, the upcoming Incognito Mode in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.25.28.1 will let users chat privately with the Meta AI chatbot. When enabled, the app will not record query history or use the data for training or personalization, giving users more control over their information.

Once a user exits a chat with Incognito Mode on, all queries will be automatically deleted. This allows users to ask questions or explore sensitive topics without concerns about data misuse. The feature will include a prompt warning that “no personalisation, no history, and no memory” will be applied to future Meta AI interactions. The option to activate Incognito Mode will appear in the same window where users can currently start new chats or view previous conversations.

The feature follows WhatsApp’s recent testing of Meta AI’s voice chat mode, which was available to select beta users on Android version 2.25.21.21. This voice mode reportedly allows two-way conversations with the Meta AI chatbot, offering flexibility and personalization options for users.

WhatsApp’s development of Incognito Mode underscores the growing emphasis on user privacy while interacting with AI chatbots, giving users greater confidence in exploring sensitive topics safely.
