EyeROV Secures ₹47 Crore Contract with Indian Navy for Advanced Underwater Robots

Indian marine robotics startup EyeROV, officially known as IROV Technologies Private Limited, has won a ₹47 crore contract from the Indian Navy to supply advanced Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles (UWROVs). The Kochi-based company will provide its field-tested systems capable of operating at depths beyond 400 metres, strengthening the Navy’s underwater surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities while highlighting indigenous defence innovation.

Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Kannappa Palaniappan P expressed pride in the achievement, saying, “For eight years, EyeROV has engineered underwater systems tested in the harshest conditions. This partnership with the Navy is proof that Indian innovation can set benchmarks globally in defence deep-tech.” He added that the TROUT model, rated for depths of 300 metres, will also join the Navy’s fleet to carry out missions in complex marine environments.

Johns T Mathai, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of EyeROV, credited the support received from national defence innovation initiatives, saying, “We sincerely thank the iDEX and Navy teams for their support in fostering advanced indigenous solutions. Our vision has always been to serve the nation by delivering technologies that are at par with global standards.”

Founded in 2017, EyeROV has executed more than 100 deployments across India, West Asia, Asia-Pacific and Europe. The company has also been recognised among India’s top five defence technology startups and received the National Startup Award in 2022.
