Google Brings Call Screen, Call Notes and Scam Detection to Pixel Phones in India

Pixel 10 users in India will soon receive new features including Call Screen, Call Notes and Scam Detection. Google has also announced that Call Screen is being localised for India, starting with English and Hindi support.

The rollout will begin shortly, with Call Screen available in manual mode. Users will need to tap the screen call button when a call comes in, instead of the process happening automatically. Once enabled, Call Screen answers calls on your behalf, asks the caller to identify themselves and shows a real-time transcript on your screen.

Based on the response, you can choose to answer, decline or send the call to voicemail. A key addition for India is translation support. If the caller speaks a different language, Call Screen will translate the responses into your preferred language, currently Hindi or English.

Alongside this, Call Notes is also being introduced in India. This feature offers conversation transcription and summarisation, all processed on the device. The updated version can now suggest tasks, reminders and calendar events from your calls, which you can create with a single tap once the call ends. There is also a new option to keep Call Notes active for every call, with a three second timer allowing you to disable it when needed.

Scam Detection is expanding to India as well, alongside Australia, Canada, Great Britain and Ireland. This feature is designed to flag suspicious calls, helping protect users against increasingly advanced phone scams. Scam Detection will be available on Pixel 6 and newer models.

All of these features are powered by Gemini Nano, Google’s on-device AI, ensuring that conversations remain private and never leave the phone.
