SpaceX Successfully Launches 28 Starlink Satellites From Vandenberg Space Force Base

The sky over Southern California lit up as SpaceX successfully launched its Falcon 9 rocket on Sunday, September 28, 2025. The rocket carried 28 new Starlink satellites into Low Earth orbit from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.

These new satellites will join SpaceX’s growing constellation, which provides high-speed, low-latency internet around the world, including rural and underserved areas. The launch is expected to strengthen the network and add resilience to the global Starlink system.

Falcon 9 lifted off at 10:04 PM EDT (7:04 PM PDT) and reached space within minutes. Its upper stage successfully deployed the Starlink Group 11-20 satellites about an hour after launch. The mission was a full success, further expanding SpaceX’s satellite network across the globe.

The first stage booster 1063 landed safely on the droneship Of Course I Still Love You in the Pacific Ocean, marking the 28th flight for this particular booster.

With this launch, the Starlink network now has approximately 8,500 active satellites. This year alone, SpaceX has conducted 124 Falcon 9 flights, bringing the total number of Falcon 9 launches under the Starlink mission to 542 since 2010.

SpaceX continues to advance its mission of providing global internet coverage, with regular launches adding more satellites to the constellation and improving network reliability worldwide.
